邋遢潦倒的中年大叔筱田良多（阿部宽 饰）是一名私家侦探，早年间他作为作家出道，然而自从处女作之后就再也没有令人称道的作品问世。他满腹牢骚，自视清高，绝不愿为了钱去创作没有“灵魂”的作品。现实生活中处处为钱发愁，拿到钱后又转瞬扔进赌场，全然没有指望。母亲淑子（树木希林 饰）独自住在团地，在老人家的眼里，再差劲的儿子也有别人无可比拟的优点。良多原本拥有美满的家庭，只不过前妻白石响子（真木阳子 饰）再也无法忍受他的作为，离婚后带着儿子真吾（吉泽太阳 饰）另外过活。好不容易与儿子见上一面，良多父子以及随后赶到的响子在淑子家中团聚。台风袭来，他们被迫留在充满着往昔回忆的奶奶家过夜。 　　喧闹却又平静的夜晚，有些事情悄然改变……

　　艾迪（梅丽莎·里奥 Melissa Leo 饰）是一名单身母亲，在不久之前，背负了巨额赌债的丈夫席卷了家中全部的积蓄自此消失不见，留下了两个年幼的孩子不管不顾，而面对这一窘境，艾迪也只能咬紧牙关默默承担。为了能让孩子们健康顺利的成长，艾迪不得不参与了当地的非法犯罪活动，尽管充满了罪恶和危险，但面对高额的回报，艾迪无法拒绝。某一天，一名与艾迪境遇相似的女人利拉（米丝蒂·阿哈姆 Misty Upham 饰）找到了艾迪，恳求她带她一同参与行动，拗不过利拉的执着，艾迪答应了。
　　就这样，两个身形单薄的女人上路了，她们此次的任务是穿越冰冻的圣罗伦斯河，除了警察外，恶劣的自然环境是另一大威胁。她们能否顺利的完成任务，而之后的生活又该怎样继续下去呢？

　　Living with her father and stepmother in Naples, Anna is very unhappy as her stepmother hinders her attempts to live her own life. While her parents are away, she goes out with Carlo, but finds herself locked out when she comes home. This angers Carlo and he asks Anna to go away with him to Rome, where he plans to liquidate his business assets in order to have money for marriage. He quarrels with his partner and is implicated when his partner is found murdered. Although innocent, he is convicted and given a long sentence. Anna has a child and, finding it impossible to support her child , returns to Naples. The stepmother's conditions are that before she will agree to house the child, Anna must commit herself to a reformatory for unmarried mothers.

　　与Stefan Uher和Elo Havatta一样，Eduard Grecner也是60年代斯洛伐克新浪潮电影的缔造者之一。他的三部影片《一周七天》（1964）《尼绒月亮》（1965）和这部《徳拉克的回归》都是斯洛伐克新浪潮电影的代表作。这部叙事方法独特带有明显意识流风格的黑白影片甚至间接影响到了后来法国导演格里耶在捷克拍摄的两部影片《说谎的人》和《Eden and After》。
　　A special place in the development of feature films is reserved for Eduard Grecner, the creator of just one good film, Dragon Returns (Drak sa vracia, 1967), titled after the nickname of the lead character. After his initial work with Uher, Grecner made his mark as a proponent of the so-called "intellectual" film, the antithesis of the sociologically, or rather, socially critical film. Grecner's great role model was Alan Resnais, a young French filmmaker who sought to introduce Slovakia to the idea of film as a labyrinth in which meanings are created not by stories, but by complex configurations of dialogue, shots, and various layers of time, thus differentiating film from both literature and theater. In Dragon Returns―the story of a solitary hero who is needed by villagers living far in the mountains, but who is rejected by them at the same time because of his detachment―Grecner brought the tradition of lyricized prose to life through a whole series of formal aesthetic techniques. Alain Robbe-Grillet immediately developed this idea in the film shot in Bratislava The Man Who Lies (Slovak: Muz, ktory luze French title: L'homme qui ment 1968), and perfected it in Eden and After (Eden a potom, 1970).

1990年代，某城市。艾菲（石兰 饰）在时装店当导购，她天生一副好嗓子，无奈天生羞怯。男友高大龙（常戎 饰）是出租公司司机，他不忍埋没艾菲才华，在一次卡拉OK唱歌时认识了蓝宝石夜总会歌厅经理吴极（景岗山 饰），吴力邀艾菲接受正规演唱训练，不久艾菲便崭露头脚。随着艾菲名气越来越大，大龙自感配不上她，主动提出分手，艾菲贪恋与大龙青梅竹马，把初夜献给了大龙。某夜演出完回家，艾菲路遇流氓袭扰，大龙挺身相救，不料误杀一名路人，虽然有夜总会总经理韩少义为其多方开脱，大龙仍以过失杀人被判刑五年。艾菲离开夜总会返回时装店，整个人变的少言寡语，但不久她又重返歌坛，目的只有一个，拼命赚钱，因为她的全部心思都飞到了大龙劳改的农场......

　　高中生寿梨（成海璃子 饰）与花田日南子的相识始于小学时代，日南子曾经是班级中颇受人瞩目的开朗少女，然而因为未能处理好同集体的关系，日南子变成了同学们争相欺负的对象。寿梨在和日南子的独处中，听闻后者诉说昔日那个开朗的自己才是真我，而如今压抑的自己只是伪我。转眼几年过去，寿梨经历了父母离异、波澜不惊的升学等等境遇，直到因同学的对话，重新回忆起当年的日南子。已经是文学社一员的寿梨开始用短信联系日南子，并以对方为主角虚构一系列短信故事，而仍然活在伪我中的日南子，在寿梨的故事启发下，逐渐找回了那个开朗的自我，但是，寿梨自身，却陷入了困境当中……
