　　In a world where mythical creatures are real, monsters and humans are forced to coexist and as prejudice and insecurity pulls everyone apart, three separate storylines manage to come together.

环山村的农民何二狗（刘牧 饰）和父亲在矿山掘进队工作，可父亲却在工作中意外身亡。何二狗怀着父亲的嘱托和抚恤金回到家乡，开始了一项几乎不可能完成的工程——挖隧道。这看似疯狂的任务引发了一场感人至深的愚公精神的传承。他的坚持和勇气感染了整个村庄的人，原本对他冷嘲热讽的村民们也被他的毅力所打动，纷纷加入到隧道工程中。在这过程中，何二狗还与漂亮寡妇二嫚（巩小榕 饰）之间悄然绽放了甜蜜的爱情。 　　随着何二狗的故事在网络上走红，他被网民誉为隧道哥，政府和相关部门也开始高度重视这个令人振奋的故事，派出大型工程队从山的另一面进行施工。这一举措不仅是对何二狗的肯定，也代表了一个农村民众自我奋斗和团结的生动写照。

　　路易斯·温索普三世（丹·艾克罗伊德 Dan Aykroyd饰），一位功成名就的华尔街投资家。黑人比利·雷·瓦伦丁（艾迪·墨菲 Eddie Murphy饰），一个为了讨口饭吃而装扮成残废军人沿街乞讨的流浪汉。两个生活在天壤之别世界里的人，居然因为一次打赌而改变了他们的命运。路易斯在兰道夫莫蒂默公爵兄弟公司里工作，有着显赫的地位和优厚的待遇。比利在一次警察的追捕中误入上等俱乐部，遇见了路易斯。而路易斯将他交给了警察，目睹全过程的莫蒂默公爵兄弟对此事持有不同的观点，竟用打赌的方式将二人的身份和地位调换，一场荒诞不羁的命运互换随即上演。
　　本片荣获1984年第56届奥斯卡金像奖最佳歌曲提名，1984年第41届金球奖电影类-音乐喜剧类最佳影片提名及最佳男主角提名。

　　A quick glimpse at the cast for this film would make any horror fan giddy with glee. The actual movie doesn't live up to those high expectations, but it's far from being all bad. Desi Arnaz Jr. (!) plays an author who makes a crazy $20,000 bet with his publisher that he could write a great novel in only 24 hours. To do so, the publisher gives him the keys to an old abandoned house where he won't be disturbed. Not true. Once he gets there he is interrupted by a multitude of guests including a family which consists of John Carradine, Sheila Keith, Peter Cushing and Vincent Price. They are gathered there in a twisted family reunion to release their brother from the room he's been imprisoned in for forty years. Even Christopher Lee drops by as Corrigan, the man who has just purchased the house. Soon, they realize that the caged brother is loose and out for revenge.
　　What a great plotline and what a dream cast! This movie should have been a hell of a lot better. It's hard to pinpoint the exact problems with the film, but I would venture to say that the lack of lighting was a major fault. Sure the house has no electricity but I think they took the title of the movie a little too literally. Scenes after scenes are barely visible and the actors' faces are undecipherable. Only the moments in the main dinning hall are well lit. Also, the great actors are given very little to do. Cushing gets a few chuckles as the scared brother but Price, Lee and especially Carradine are somewhat wasted here. Well, at least Price gets the best line of the film: `Please don't interrupt me while I am soliloquizing.' And on the plus side, the story has enough twists and turns throughout to keep one`s interest and the ending, while a bit of a cop-out, manages to surprise.

　　续弦的老伴去世后，老葛（许还山 饰）在非血缘关系的儿女家处境尴尬，而跟儿子（韩童生 饰）的关系也始终没有松动。无奈之下，老葛辗转来到关山老人院，寻找当年同在一个单位的好友老周（吴天明 饰）。老周热情开朗，平日里组织这里的老人们参加各种各样的文体活动。为了实现各自人生最后的价值，这群老伙伴们毅然决定排练节目去天津参加比赛。可是，衰老与疾病让院长（颜丙燕 饰）无法下定决心开绿灯，而意外的事故更促使她对老周他们的表演下了禁止令。
　　即便如此，老人们也从未放弃。他们决定偷偷跑出老人院，寻找生命中纯粹的快乐与意义……

大唐年间妖魔横行，一小渔村因为饱受鱼妖之害请来道士（冯勉恒 饰）除妖，年轻驱魔人陈玄奘（文章 饰）前来帮忙却被误认为骗子，幸亏职业赏金驱魔人段小姐（舒淇 饰）帮助玄奘制服了鱼妖真身（李尚正 饰）。二人又在高家庄为制服猪妖猪刚鬣（陈炳强 饰） 而再次相遇，这次除妖没有成功 ，但是段小姐却对玄奘二见钟情。玄奘求助师父，得知除妖的办法是去找被压在五指山下的孙悟空（黄渤 饰）帮忙，于是他准备前往五指山，途中又遇到段小姐和手下五煞，段小姐连蒙带哄想与玄奘在一起却屡次遭拒，在四妹（周秀娜 饰）调教下想变得更有女人味却适得其反。二人决裂后玄奘独自上路，与此同时降魔师（释延能 饰）、天残脚（张超理 饰）、空虚公子（罗志祥 饰）也一同前往除妖。经过千辛万苦玄奘终于找到孙悟空，段小姐又再次出现并交给玄奘一件重要的东西，猪妖终于被降服，但是更大的危机又出现在了玄奘面前，原...
