一九五八年的《开罗车站》（Cairo Station）是夏因其中一部早期经典，不过该片比时代先行，上映时被观众喝倒釆，同时也因对性及社会问题的描写而被禁足足有十二年。后来重见天日，广泛被推崇为最重要的阿拉伯电影之一。
　　夏因上阵自导自演，演活了一个卖报卫生的开罗小男人。化身成埃及版差利，闲时喜欢将杂质上的美女照片剪下来贴满他的车站小屋内，又爱上了在附近买柠檬水的惹火尤物。但通俗剧的形式，最终以小男人死于非命的反通俗剧结束，而他眼中的神圣不可侵犯的惹火尤物只不过是另一个男人的财物。
　　《开罗车站》被评为最先将新写实主义引进歌舞片充斥的埃及电影世界的作品。导演对埃及的性别政治以及不优良传统的关注和批判，已在此片尽露端倪。

　　Cologne-based comedienne, author, presenter and much more Meltem Kaptan is the perfect fit for Andreas Dresen’s special talent for combining explosive topics (in this case based on actual events) and the everyday concerns of the average citizen. Kaptan’s, or rather Rabiye’s, performance is overwhelming, and not just for the lawyer (played by Alexander Scheer) who quickly becomes a friend. A portrait of a passionate woman who holds the steering wheel of her beloved vehicle as firmly in her hand as she does the reins in this turbo-charged film.

　　Peggy is an Indian girl with an unusual upbringing by a Chinese mother, and is often insulted and bullied by peers in school. One day, Marco from Hong Kong moves in next door, and through some odd circumstances both neighbours find a truce, and eventually, love.

　　Julian is a 12-year-old boy whose family is just scraping by in the Ruhr industrial region of Germany in the early 1960s . When his mother and younger sister go away for a while, he is left mostly alone in the apartment while his father works in the coal mine. He has to confront the confusing world of adults and older boys and the older girl next door on his own. Finally events build up and threaten to tear the family apart.

　　Maciej Berbeka makes the first winter ascent of Broad Peak in 1988, escaping death by inches. Andrzej Zawada, the expedition leader, announces a great success. Once they return to Poland, it turns out Maciej reached "only" the Rocky Summit, which is twenty-three metros lower than the actual peak located one hour away. Resentful of his friends' lies, Berbeka withdraws from mountaineering. Twenty- -four years later, he takes a call from Krzysztof Wielicki, who also participated in the first expedition. "We have to finish what we started," says Krzysztof as he persuades Maciej to join the next Broad Peak expedition. After a long hesitation, Maciej decides to try once again.
